The Trentino mountaineer Giampaolo Corona was spotted Saturday morning at an altitude of 7,500 meters on Annapurna, Nepal, and evacuated by helicopter to base camp.

The Himalayan Times reports this, adding that he has suffered a frostbite and that his conditions are stable, according to base camp sources.

Swedish mountaineer Tim Bogdanov was also rescued.

The new searches were triggered this morning, after contact with both Corona and Bogdanov had been lost from base camp, two of the three climbers who had faced the expedition without resorting to supplementary oxygen and porters.

The Swede also suffered some frostbite but his conditions seem stable.

Both will be taken to Kathmandu for necessary treatment.

In the last contact, Friday evening, Corona had explained that he was descending along a variant, therefore not from the normal aided route.

Contacts with Tim Bogdanov had been lost after a last call from camp 4. "We are sure that Tim has arrived at camp 4, but Giampaolo may have taken the wrong path", said the president of the team in the early hours of Saturday. company that organizes the expedition to The Himalayan Times.

Contacts with Corona had already been lost for the first time on Thursday afternoon for 24 hours, after he had started the descent from the summit.

On Friday he had been spotted by the helicopter but, again according to The Himalayan Times, he had refused help.
