Opinion | Sinwar threatens, but has nothing to brag about Israel today

2022-04-30T20:24:54.614Z

Mansour Abbas did well when he waved Sinwar, making it clear that he was acting only in the interests of Israeli Arabs. This is important for restoring Sinwar to its natural size

In the wake of the deadly attack in which a security guard in Ariel was killed last night, Hamas yesterday stepped up its efforts to encourage attacks and violence on both sides of the Green Line.

The speech of its leader, Yahya Sinwar, was an attempt to preserve the struggle over the narrative that the al-Aqsa Mosque is in danger of. It was a dangerous speech, mainly because of its explicit reference to Israeli Arabs.

Sinwar, who has been plagued by signs of growing insanity since Operation Wall Guard last year, has explicitly played a role in Israeli politics.

He sought to position himself not only as another terrorist factor seeking nationalist activism among internal elements as well, but as one who tries to be fateful in the Israeli government and in its House of Representatives as well.

Mansour Abbas did well when he waved Sinwar, making it clear that he was acting only in the interests of Israeli Arabs.

This is an important element in returning Sinwar to his natural size: a leader of a small terrorist organization, who is mistaken in thinking that he is setting an equation for Israel.

His remarks that Israel is a "spider's web" were a faded imitation of Nasrallah's speech after the IDF withdrew from southern Lebanon. .

Although Hamas has gained a lot of popularity on the Palestinian and East Jerusalem streets and on social media, it has been a net operational failure - the last month has been a complete failure for it.

Sinwar understands this well, so tries to ride on the successes of others.

These efforts will continue in the coming days, until Eid al-Fitr, which ends the month of Ramadan, and a little later, until Independence Day.

Sinwar explicitly asked in his speech to preserve them also later;

This is his way of ensuring that Hamas remains relevant even without igniting the Gaza Strip.

He did threaten that his organization could launch more than 1,000 rockets at a time.

Still, Israel is facing a difficult security challenge in Judea and Samaria. The attack in Ariel will probably encourage attempts to imitate, as has happened after similar attacks in the past. - Based on information from the GSS - which will lead to arrests and investigations that will allow further attacks to be thwarted.

In addition to the operational activities, the IDF will be required to examine the security method and procedures at the position where the security guard was killed as part of the attack. From the moment the terrorists opened fire from the vehicle in which they were traveling, the security guard who was killed in the body of the security guard with whom he and his partner paid for it in his life. One and his improvised weapon with it - and their initial investigation revealed that they acted on their own initiative, and without the assistance or intention of any organization.

Yahya Sinwar moments before the speech,

Unlike most recent terrorist attacks, they surrendered without a fight, and therefore also survived, which would allow them to learn about the planning of the attack, and the way in which they obtained the weapons used by them.

The defense establishment will soon assimilate the lessons of the attack, but the allegations made yesterday against the use of civilian security companies in Judea and Samaria were erroneous. More in their action than regular soldiers.

The solution, if required, is in spot improvements, not in concept replacement.

The fact that of the 15 people killed in the last month in terrorist attacks, the person killed yesterday was the first in Judea and Samaria, shows that the security pressure is working and must be continued, certainly in light of Sinwar's words.
