Officers from the Task Force of the Enforcement and Control Team of Traffic Kowloon West Region conducted anti-drinking and driving operations for two consecutive days (29th to 30th), setting up roadblocks on major roads in the district, intercepting suspicious vehicles and issuing alcohol calls to drivers At the same time, it also cracks down on illegal racing, speeding, and violation of vehicle construction and maintenance in the region.
During the operation, officers arrested 11 men and 1 woman, aged between 27 and 51. Among them, 8 were arrested for "failure to pass an alcohol breath test" or "failure to provide a breath sample" and for being suspected of "drinking and driving" ; Another 4 people were arrested on suspicion of "drug possession".
In addition, during the operation, officers found a total of 4 private cars and 2 motorcycles that were suspected to have been illegally modified or did not comply with legal requirements, violating the Road Traffic (Construction and Maintenance of Vehicles) Regulations.
After preliminary inspection, the suspected modifications to the vehicle include: modification of the suspension system, modification of the "dead air throat", the fixed air wing at the rear protruding from the body, modification of the wheel disc and broken windshield, etc.
The vehicle has been towed to the Kowloon Bay Vehicle Detention Centre for further examination.
In addition, officers also issued defective vehicle reports to two private cars and detected 68 vehicles involved in speeding during the operation. Officers will issue summonses to the drivers concerned later.
