Traffic in East Kowloon cracks down on drink-driving: Man arrested for 'unlicensed driving'

At about 0:00 in the morning today (1st), officers of the Task Force of Traffic Kowloon East Region conducted an anti-drink-driving operation in the district and intercepted suspicious vehicles.

During the operation, the police stopped and checked a private car at World Fortune Road in Ngau Tau Kok.

After investigation, a 20-year-old surnamed Li male driver in the car did not hold any driving license.

The male driver was arrested for "driving without a license", "driving without third-party insurance" and "driving without the required lights on".

The male driver has been released on bail pending investigation and must report to police in late May.


Police reiterate that "driving without a license" and "driving without third-party insurance" are serious offences. Upon conviction for the two offences, each is liable to a fine of $5,000 and $10,000 and to imprisonment for six and 12 months respectively. .

The Police will continue to step up law enforcement to combat related crimes and appeal to motorists not to try the law by themselves.
