The Secretary-General strongly condemns yesterday's deadly attack on the Khalifa Sahib Mosque in western Kabul during Friday prayers
,” one of his spokespersons said in a statement.

Attacks against civilians and civilian property, including mosques, are strictly prohibited by international humanitarian law
," he said, as a series of deadly bomb attacks, some claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group, have caused dozens of deaths in the country in the past two weeks, amid an upsurge in attacks.
Antonio Guterres expressed his condolences to the victims.
In a separate statement, members of the UN Security Council condemned "

", where the Taliban regained power in August.
On Friday, about ten people were killed in an explosion that hit a Sunni mosque in Kabul after prayers.
The target of this attack appears to be members of the minority Sufi community who were performing rituals after Friday prayers, according to an official.
Jihadist groups such as the Islamic State have a deep hatred for this Muslim movement which they consider heretical.
