For the first time in its history, the municipality of Poing has awarded its own culture prize.

The artist Natalja Herdt received it.

Poing - Natalja Herdt stands in the spotlight on the stage, stretches flowers and certificate in the air and is so hearteningly happy that one can only rejoice: A beautiful picture that suits the Poinger artist and her work.

Her art stimulates, creates connections, gives people new impulses, sometimes relaxed and serious - and often happiness.

"Your art puts a smile on the viewer's face," says Poing's Mayor Thomas Stark in his speech.

"You, Ms. Herdt, are good for all of us."

As the first municipality in the district, the municipality of Poing awards an annual culture prize, which is endowed with 2000 euros.

Actually, the premiere should have taken place last year, but an award ceremony was not possible due to the corona pandemic.

So the municipality waited until the "Culture Prize 2021" could now take place.

On Friday evening in one of the workshop halls of the Bavarian State Opera on Gruber Strasse.

A great and extraordinary place that is normally not open to the public.

Apprentices in event technology at the State Opera took care of the sound, light and technology – excellent.

About 100 invited visitors came.

The jury for the Culture Prize 2021 consisted of the two pastors Michael Simonsen (Protestant) and Philipp Werner (Catholic), Hildegard Petschik (Head of the Vhs branch in Poing) as well as the art teacher Christine Gramolla (Anni Pickert School) and the student Madison Schick .

"It was important to us to have all generations on the jury," says Poing's culture officer Birgitta Nagel.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

Six applications and three suggestions were received, reports Mayor Stark in his speech and lists: Peter Vomberg (senior music in the Poinger senior center), the clarinetist Lisa Riepl, Andreas Otten (landlord of the former "Café Station" with cultural stage), Karl Orth ( artist who created the memorial at the Poinger S-Bahn station, among other things), Heinz Mayerthaler (painter and draftsman), the Kulturtage Poing association (director: Cornelia Gütlich), Rosi Hingerl and Inge Schmidt (inventors of the Poinger "Long Night of Art" ) and Natalya Herdt.

Poing's Mayor Thomas Stark

Because her art is diverse and she reaches everyone with her work (including drawing courses for children and young people) - and this also thanks to campaigns on social media even during the Corona pandemic - the jury ultimately chose Natalja Herdt.

Mayor Thomas Stark reported that the municipal council unanimously approved this proposal.

After Stark and Petschik (on behalf of the jury) have spoken and invited the award winner onto the stage, Natalja Herdt is speechless: "I am... wow!" are her first three words.

Then she says quietly: "I don't think I've ever heard so much about myself as I do now" and grins.

Then she holds up the certificate and the bouquet of flowers and gets great applause.

Her closing words: “Poing is a great place, I feel very comfortable here.

The people are friendly and open.”
