Back to 2020: In Beijing, closure is approaching, and residents are storming supermarkets Israel today

In the Chinese capital announced a ban on eating in restaurants and the introduction of negative tests as a condition of entry into public places • At the same time, in the largest city in China, Shanghai, has been closed for a month in light of the outbreak, which also hits other areas in the republic

Chinese authorities announced on Saturday drastic measures to curb crowds in the Chinese capital Beijing amid a severe outbreak of the corona virus omicron variant, just during one of the busiest periods in the Chinese calendar.

"Labor Day," in which millions of Chinese go on a five-day vacation, this year is reminiscent of 2020 following the eruption in the capital and elsewhere in China, which is the hardest since the original eruption in Wuhan city that year.

Under the new restrictions in the Chinese capital, eating in restaurants was banned, and Universal Studios Amusement Park was also closed.

Also, residents will have to prove that they received a negative test result to enter public buildings.

This is part of the implementation of the Chinese policy of zero infections, in which local closures are imposed wherever a case of infection is discovered, but in this case due to the culture of the cases, general restrictions are imposed on all residents in the city.

In the city of Shanghai, too, a similar closure was imposed on the 26 million residents, who have been under severe restrictions for a month.

Elsewhere in China, too, authorities have announced various bans, including travel to other provinces but there is a necessary reason.

This is a holiday period in which hundreds of millions of Chinese usually travel for holidays, and it seems that travel will decrease by 62% compared to 2021.

Fearing that the new measures would lead to a general closure as imposed in Shanghai, residents in the capital began storming supermarkets to stockpile food.

At the same time, the authorities began conducting a series of tests for all residents, suspending schooling and further restrictions.

After the holiday ends later this week, students will be able to return to schools and employees will also be able to return to work as long as negative test results from the 48 that preceded their arrival are presented.

Residents should also conduct weekly inspections on a regular basis.

In the Chinese capital, 59 local cases of infection were detected on Sunday, the highest number in the current outbreak.

Since April 20, 300 cases have been discovered in the city.

In Shanghai, which has been under closure for a month (according to areas that change every few weeks), the authorities have announced that the infection is under control.

Nearly 8,000 cases of infection were found in the city on Sunday.

The closure in Shanghai was accompanied by a sporadic protest by residents who tried to violate the harsh restrictions on leaving homes, and even there were seen scenes of an assault on supermarket shelves.

It is estimated in the West that the Chinese vaccine may be less effective and therefore the population there is more vulnerable to infections.
