The Dachauer Tafel is currently fundamentally lacking in goods.

The reasons for the acute shortage are varied, according to EddaNDerhardpreis, the head of the food bank.

One of them is that grocery stores don't have as much inventory in stock anymore.

"This is also related to the increased prices," said Edda Third Price.

"For some time now we have hardly been able to get fresh produce," she reported.

Another reason is the increased demand in the food banks.

Third price also expects a further increase in the number of customers.

She is certain: "Families that have just managed to get by so far will no longer be able to cope with the rising prices."

According to their statutes, the Tafel are not allowed to buy anything.

Only food that is donated by the supermarkets, the producers or others may be given out because they have a surplus.

The BRK district chairman Bernhard Seidenath is therefore asking for private initiative.

“We ask citizens to shop and bring the groceries to the table.

In this way, needy customers can be helped.

All groceries are welcome,” said Seidenath.

Above all, there is a lack of oil, coffee, tea and fresh food such as sausage and cheese.

Flour, pasta and vegetables are also urgently needed.

A functioning board is also important to the acting BRK district manager Dennis Behrendt.

He emphasized: “Tafels not only prevent food from being thrown away.

They also help those in need.

They are particularly important in times of flight and migration.

In difficult times, the panels are a safe anchor for many.”

Food donations can be handed in at the Tafel in Brunngartenstraße every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or by appointment).

For questions and to arrange other appointments, the deputy head of the Tafel, Albert Solleder, is available on 0173/9764832.
