German citizens denounced Chancellor Olaf Scholz's policies in support of the Kyiv authorities and boycotted a speech he gave in Dusseldorf about German military supplies to Ukraine.
The Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported that the attendees demanded that Shultz not arm Ukraine and fuel the conflict and work to achieve peace without weapons.
Despite the voices calling for Schulz to stop military support for Ukraine, Schulz, who was forced to raise his voice amid chants of the crowd against his policies, stressed that Germany would continue to support Ukraine with money, aid and arms supplies, as it does many other countries in Europe.
The Bundestag, the German parliament, had earlier adopted a statement calling on the government to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine, including increasing shipments of heavy weapons, stressing the need to expedite and expand these shipments as much as possible.
It is noteworthy that more than 125,000 people have so far signed a petition on the "Chang.org" website calling on the German chancellor not to supply Kyiv with heavy weapons.
