"

Six rockets fell near the Zab river in the district of Khabat

", the Kurdish anti-terrorist services said in a press release without specifying the exact target of the shots and affirming that the attack had caused "

neither victims nor damage

".

But a local security source and an oil source said part of the Kawergosk refinery was hit by "

two rockets

" which caused "

minor damage

" and a fire which was "

quickly brought under control

".

A local official who requested anonymity said the rockets fell about five kilometers from the Kawergosk refinery, one of the largest in this oil-rich region, located northwest of Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan.

According to the Kurdish anti-terrorist services, the projectiles were fired from the locality of Bartella, in the neighboring province of Nineveh.

The shootings were not immediately claimed.

Nineveh, of which Mosul is the regional capital, depends administratively on the federal power of Baghdad.

This sector, a former stronghold of the jihadists of the Islamic State (IS) group, was reconquered in 2017 by the Iraqi army, the federal police and the former paramilitaries of Hachd al-Chaabi.

On April 6, three rockets fell near this same Kawergosk oil refinery, without causing any casualties or damage.
