Update from May 1st, 9:45 p.m .:

According to the police, four people from the right-wing camp were injured, some seriously, on their way back in the riots surrounding a right-wing extremist march in Zwickau.

According to a spokesman for the federal police, they got out at around 5:30 p.m. at the train station in Crimmitschau and were attacked with striking tools in an underpass.

Bloodstains could still be seen at the train station in the evening.

Forces secured tracks.

The attacked persons were responsive, but suffered hand and head injuries.

All four were taken to hospitals.

Based on witness statements, the federal police are looking for six to ten suspects from the left-wing camp, one of whom is said to be a woman.

A police helicopter was also in action at the time.

At the “Revolutionary May Day Demonstration” in Berlin, according to police information, the police first intervened after attacks on them.

"There were coercive measures (pushing & pressing) and the use of tear gas after attacks by Pyro, punches and kicks in the direction of the police forces from parts of the demo," writes the police via Twitter.

May 1st: Demonstrations in Hamburg and Berlin

Update from May 1, 8:10 p.m.:

While 2,000 demonstrators marched through Hamburg’s HafenCity under the motto “We can no longer afford the rich”, according to the police in Berlin, at least 3,000 people came together for the “Revolutionary May Day” demonstration Left and radical left groups had called.

At the Kottbusser Tor in Kreuzberg, the windows of a future police station planned there, which the left-wing scene rejects, were protected with chipboard panels and bars.

So far, however, several protests and demonstrations in the capital have been mostly peaceful: around 10,000 cyclists, for example, drove through the affluent Grunewald in the west of the city, demonstrating for the redistribution of wealth.

The satirical demonstration was held under the motto "Cripple Grunewald even more".

When arriving at a right-wing march in Zwickau, according to police information, rights attacked counter-demonstrators.

At Glauchau station, they threw stones at a train in which demonstrators from the left camp were sitting, as a police spokesman said on Sunday afternoon.

These were on their way to counter-protests in Zwickau.

A spokesman said 41 rights had been set.

A 28-year-old counter-demonstrator was reportedly slightly injured.

There had already been clashes at the train station in Chemnitz.

There, 50 right-wing demonstrators from the train were referred to Zwickau.

The right-wing extremist splinter party The Third Way had mobilized for a lift on Sunday in Zwickau.

The party has been promoting the demonstration nationwide for months, so more than 500 participants are expected - including from southern Germany and Thuringia, police chief Lutz Rodig said recently.

There are indications that there could also be many violent people among the demonstrators in Zwickau.

Berlin – The day before May 1st, thousands of people demonstrated and celebrated in Berlin.

According to the police, the protests were mostly quiet.

At a demonstration by feminists in Prenzlauer Berg, however, the atmosphere was heated on Saturday evening.

Paint bags flew, discs were thrown in, pyrotechnics ignited.

The police stopped the protest march several times.

According to a police spokeswoman, there were attacks on emergency services.

There have been isolated arrests, the spokeswoman said.

May 1st: Demonstrations in Berlin at the weekend

According to the spokeswoman, around 1,600 police officers were on duty in the city on Saturday.

5,000 to 20,000 participants and possible outbreaks of violence are expected.

A total of up to 50,000 participants are expected at demonstrations and folk festivals over the weekend.
