Warsaw-Sana
Poland announced today the start of large-scale military exercises of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in its territory and eight other countries in Eastern Europe, as part of the alliance's efforts to expand its military bases and infrastructure near the borders of Russia.
The Associated Press quoted the Polish army as saying in a statement that 18,000 soldiers from more than 20 countries will participate in the maneuvers that will take place between 1 and 27 of this month, claiming that these maneuvers are annual and have nothing to do with geopolitical developments in the region.
The Polish army had informed the public opinion that various regions of the country, including those adjacent to the borders of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, will witness intense military movements that come within the framework of these maneuvers, warning against any publication of information or pictures of military vehicles that are expected to move in the coming weeks.
The press office of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service announced two days ago that Washington and Warsaw were discussing a plan to establish Poland's control over part of Ukraine.
