Old age does not stand as an obstacle to achieving goals. Retirement, which some consider the end of the path, is found by others is the beginning of a new, different stage in which the retiree is preparing to hand over the flag to his successors, offering him the experiences and professional skills he acquired during his years of work.

After a long journey of work, engineer Wael Abdo, who works at the Deir Ali power station in rural Damascus, is preparing to retire after about two months, according to what he explained to a SANA reporter who met him at his workplace at the station.

Abdo, who is full of vitality and activity, said, "I have been working in the field of constructing stations for more than 32 years between the Tishreen thermal power stations and Deir Ali in Damascus countryside.

He added that the engineer working in the field of electricity in the public sector, especially in the field of constructing generating stations as large model projects, acquires many experiences and skills. The best example of this is the engineers who worked at the Tishreen station and are currently carrying out works at the Rastan station in Latakia, which will contribute to supplying the electrical system in Latakia.

He pointed out that for 32 years, he worked in the field of general maintenance and a supervisor at the Deir Ali station, while he is currently working with his colleagues to prepare some small projects, such as digging and preparing wells to supply the station with water, and preparing the water project for the town of Deir Ali and the Bayat area of the station.

Abdo concluded his speech by emphasizing his complete readiness to transfer his experiences even after retirement to all those who wish to work in the stations, directing a message to the workers on their holiday, saying, “We will remain in Syria, defending it with our knowledge and work.”

From Masyaf in Hama, Ghanem Hamdan Ibrahim brings us to his memories during his years of work in the Tal Salhab Sugar Factory, where he spent 38 years and retired about 4 years ago and returned to work at the request of the administration to benefit from his expertise in the field of electrical maintenance.

Ibrahim pointed out, during his interview with SANA reporter, that he studied at the Engineering Institute in Damascus, specializing in industrial electricity, electron, control and transportation from 1980 to 2018, in a number of jobs within the factory, where he worked in the Electricity Department and in the electrical maintenance workshop for industrial control and driving electric motors.

Among the departments in which Ibrahim worked to develop the work was the Lime Kiln Department by installing a modern PLC system and electromagnetic sensors for the main lime kiln pails and the reserve stone tank, which improved the furnace’s charging, reduced faults, and facilitated adjustment and calibration.

As for the sugar beet unloading section, Ibrahim installed two wireless control systems “Remont Control” from a distance of 60 meters in all directions, instead of electric control cables that were moving with the machine, in the waiting pools designated for unloading the beet, indicating that he was also able to modify the plates of conveyor belts. Sugar, increasing its work efficiency and simplifying its circuit, in addition to converting the bridge turbine crane from mechanical to electrical control.

“Returning to work in April 2022 was one of the most beautiful things that happened to me and made me feel the value of the experiences I gained from my work in the public sector,” Ibrahim says, indicating that he was asked to return to the lab due to the lack of technical staff and the need for his expertise, as he is currently working in the field of painting restoration and conducting tests to make a course successful. Sugar production run.

“I call upon all retirees who have experience, skills and knowledge in their pockets, not to consider retirement the end of the journey, but rather a starting point for a new beginning.” With these words, Ibrahim concluded his speech, wishing the workers on their holiday continued brilliance and success.
