According to the police, the first attacks on emergency services occurred during the so-called Revolutionary May Day demonstration in Berlin-Neukölln.
"There were coercive measures (pushing & pressing) and the use of tear gas after attacks by Pyro, punches and kicks in the direction of the police forces from parts of the demo," said the authority on Twitter on Sunday evening.
According to police estimates, around 14,000 people took part in the demonstration by left-wing and radical left-wing groups.
In the middle part was a big black block with several hundred people.
The train came to a standstill in Sonnenallee, near Elbestrasse.
"Our forces are now accompanying this block from the side," the police said.
Emergency services went into the group of hooded autonomists.
According to a dpa reporter, the mood was heated and aggressive in this part of the protest march, but peaceful and happy in other parts.
