Scholz: Radical pacifism "out of date"

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) considers radical pacifism to be out of date in view of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

"I respect every pacifism, I respect every attitude, but it must seem cynical to a citizen of Ukraine when he is told that he should defend himself against Putin's aggression without weapons," said Scholz on Sunday at a DGB rally on the day of the work in Dusseldorf.

Düsseldorf – "It's out of date!" Said Scholz.

"I will say very clearly: We will not allow borders to be moved by force and territory to be conquered."

The Chancellor spoke to loud protesters who chanted "Make peace without guns".

He had to strain his own voice to make himself heard.
