The government said today (1st) that a total of 7 housing estates in Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Kwun Tong and Kowloon City had positive sewage test results and relatively high virus levels. Its residents, cleaners and property management staff distributed a total of about 200,000 rapid antigen test kits for them to test themselves.
The Environmental Protection Department and the Drainage Services Department, together with an interdisciplinary team from the University of Hong Kong, have recently stepped up the collection of sewage samples in various districts for coronavirus testing, and found positive results in sewage in several districts, indicating that there may be hidden patients in the premises in the districts exist.
The latest involved housing estates include:
Tuen Mun District — Tai Hing Estate
Yuen Long District — Long Ping Estate
Kwun Tong District - Hong Pak Court, Hing Tin Estate, Hong Wah Court and Hong Ya Court
Kowloon City District - Ma Tau Wai Village
The government reminds that when using rapid antigen test kits, one should pay attention to and follow the manufacturer's instructions, conduct the test and read the results correctly, and take pictures immediately after reading the results for record.
Hands must be clean before and after the test, and non-essential supplies should be kept to a minimum in the sample collection area.
After testing, all components of the test kit need to be carefully wrapped, sealed and disposed of properly.
If the household environment is contaminated during sample collection, it should be disinfected with 1:49 diluted household bleach or 70% alcohol.
Persons who have obtained a positive result for the first time with the rapid antigen test can declare through the online platform of the "2019 Coronavirus Rapid Antigen Test Positive Results Person Declaration System".
If members of the public have difficulty using the online platform, they can call the automated system at 183 6119 to register their identity documents and telephone numbers.
The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health will contact the person concerned to complete the declaration process.
