The father, a 57-year-old man, was taken into police custody on Saturday evening before being hospitalized on Sunday in a psychiatric unit, the prosecution said.

According to a source familiar with the matter, this man could be suffering from Diogenes syndrome: he accumulated very large quantities of waste and belongings in his home which helped to spread the fire.

The fire took three hours to be brought under control on Saturday evening.

A hundred firefighters and thirty machines were mobilized.

It could be those of the mother and the two children.

An investigation has been opened for arson, but the exact circumstances in which the fire broke out are still unclear.

According to the first findings of the firefighters, it could be a garbage fire that would have spread to vehicles and then to the pavilion where the family lived.

The investigation was entrusted to the judicial police of Val-de-Marne.
