The publications mainly reflect Tehran's desire to renew relations in the shadow of its regional isolation • Iranian expert: "The strategic vision is to strengthen relations with all countries in the Persian Gulf, and especially with Saudi Arabia"

After six years of disconnection:

Iranian sources reported yesterday that a draft of a plan would be drawn up that would lead to the resumption of relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

The publications mainly reflect Tehran's desire to renew relations in the shadow of regional isolation.

An Iranian expert testified to this.

"The strategic vision is to strengthen relations with all the countries in the Persian Gulf, and especially with Saudi Arabia," Seder al-Husseini said.

According to him, those who benefit from Iran's shaky relations with the Persian Gulf states are the United States and Israel.

At the same time, the outgoing Iranian ambassador to Baghdad, Irj Masjadi, stressed that agreement had been reached on a future roadmap for the negotiations. In this context, the Iranian Foreign Ministry added that in the talks they discussed the pilgrimage of 40,000 Iranians to Mecca this year.

However, the Iranian ambassador stressed that the opening of the embassies depends on what will be achieved in the future negotiations. Among other things, it was reported that the next round will take place in the presence of the diplomatic echelon.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Khajimi told al-Sabah that they "are confident that understanding between Saudi Arabia and Iran is close. There is a real breakthrough between all the countries in the region."

Despite the optimism in Iran, sources quoted by the London-based Al-Arab newspaper said that normalizing relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran necessitated the latter to take practical steps to reduce trust gaps, including pressure on the Houthi militia to reach a realistic settlement in the war in Yemen.

The newspaper reported that Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Khazimi had met in Baghdad before the fifth round with the assistant to international affairs of Iran's National Security Council Secretary-General Said Arfani and Saudi General Intelligence Chief Khaled al-Hamidan.
