Wiessee's 100th anniversary as a spa is celebrated in summer.

A unique musical fusion is also planned for the unique occasion: the combo Trovasur and the Perlseer are doing something together for the anniversary.

Bad Wiessee

– Instead of a lake festival, Bad Wiessee is celebrating its anniversary as a spa for four days: from June 30th to July 3rd, one program item follows the next on the lakeside promenade.

And especially for this occasion, two of the best-known groups from the region are merging: the three Perlseer dirndls and the band Trovasur have developed a Bavarian-South American program - a reminiscence of the cultural radiance and history of the Bavarian world spa on Lake Tegernsee.

For the big Wiesseer birthday celebration, the large lake festival stage with screen, sound system and lighting is set up on the lake promenade opposite the music pavilion.

"We are pleased to be able to present a particularly broad and varied program there for the anniversary," said Peter Rie, event manager at Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT), now at the press conference on the presentation.

The fusion of Trovasur and Perlseer dirndl is unique - one known for their Cuban sounds in a Bavarian style, the other for their clear Bavarian triad.

They were brought together by the Tegernsee composer and arranger Thomas Rebensburg, who already participated in the #wiesseerocks program in 2021, Trovasur with Georg Höß (guitar, treble and vocals), Markus Aldenhoven (guitar, vocals), Matthias Erhardt (percussion), Sebastian Erhardt (guitarrón ), Andreas Erlacher (accordion), Klaus Miller (zither, percussion, vocals) and Raúl Piminchumo (guitar, percussion, vocals) had fused musically brilliantly with the classic Wiesseer Salonorchester (we reported).

Since then, Rebensburg has also been a permanent member of Trovasur at the piano.

Once across the Atlantic and back

Their frontman Höß has in turn reflected on the beginnings as a birthday combo with Mexican mariachi repertoire - and on the music-historical roots of South American music, which also lie in the Alpine region: the military orchestra of Maximilian I of Mexico, Habsburg and grandson of Bavaria's King Max I Joseph.

Among its 7,000-strong Austro-Mexican volunteer corps were 60 Alpine musicians.

"What kind of guys were they who left their mark on Mexican and other South American music?" Hoess asks with a laugh.

Alpine-European elements as well as Hungarian and Slavic elements first flowed into mariachi music and then went around the world.

"These Bavarian pieces now need to be re-imported," says Höß.

Rebensburg is currently devoting himself to this task, rearranging the pieces from a Mexican instrumentation to zither and contraguitar.

His fusion idea is also based on the Perlseer's classic triad with Michaela Brückner (first part and harp), Susanne Wiesner from Rottach-Egern (second part violin) and Christina Meier (third part and clarinet), who in the rhythmically set Latino music to be translated.

"The three-part setting of South American music is very parallel to Bavarian music," says Wiesner.

“The biggest challenge for us is learning the Spanish lyrics.

The band Hoamatbeat with frontman Florian Stecher from Rottach-Egern will heat up the party.

Their concert last year at #wiesseerocks had to be canceled due to a storm.

Instead, they are now presenting their new album in a new formation.

"Diverse, casual, cool," Stecher describes the further developed Hoamatbeat sound.
