At about 9 pm today (2nd), a woman surnamed Lin (23 years old) reported the case at a unit at No. 71 Public Square Street, Yau Ma Tei, saying that she had received a call from a man who claimed to be a Mainland law enforcement officer earlier, saying that she was involved in A criminal case requiring her to deposit money as instructed.
Lin Nv was not afraid of fraud, and successively transferred a total of 820,000 yuan (about 980,000 Hong Kong dollars) over ten times to the other party's designated account. Later, she suspected that she had been deceived and called the police for help.
The police classified the case as "obtaining property by deception" and handed it over to the Yau Tsim District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. No arrests have been made so far.
