As-Suwayda-Sana
The branch of the General Organization for Seed Propagation in As-Suwayda has developed a plan to produce about 150 tons of potato seed planted in net-houses for the current season.
The director of the Foundation’s branch, Engineer Solaf Al-Saad, told SANA reporter that in order to implement the plan, about 113 net-houses of “Aya and Palmyra” types were planted this season within a site in the village of Al-Matona in the northern countryside of As-Suwayda, on an area of 100 acres.
She pointed out the importance of the seeds that are produced from “Super Elite” net-houses to be used next year in covered net crops within the project, as well as securing another part of them to contract with farmers to plant open fields.
Last season, the branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in As-Suwayda produced about 418 tons of potato seed within the national project, from net houses and open fields.
