Bankitalia: climate is risk also for company and bank accounts

(ANSA) - ROME, APRIL 30 - Landslides and floods that are increasingly frequent due to climate change also represent an economic damage and a risk for the balance sheets of Italian companies and banks.

As can be read in an in-depth analysis contained in the Bank of Italy's financial stability report, according to which the most exposed are the smallest banks and in particular the mutual banks "whose exposure is often concentrated in a single geographical area".

Experts estimate that 28 percent of bank loans to businesses have been granted to companies located (or with operating sites) in provinces that have a physical risk indicator defined as "high" or "very high" (ANSA).
