Town hall chief Stefan Klaffenbacher reported on numerous long-running issues at the citizens' meeting in Lenggries.

On an exciting topic, however, he left it at hints.

Lenggries

– Corona also shaped the past year in Lenggries.

Nonetheless, the community has made some progress.

Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher gave an overview on Friday evening at the citizens' meeting in the Alpenfestsaal.

The largest construction project was the expansion and energetic renovation of the top floor of the town hall.

"Contemporary offices" were created in this way, said Klaffenbacher about the 935,000 euro measure and showed photos.

A citizens' office is to be built on the ground floor, easily accessible for anyone who has difficulty walking.

Nursing home Lenggries: application at 0.58 a.m

After the delays in 2020, last year the plans for the new nursing home “were continued in a targeted manner,” said Klaffenbacher.

A new building according to KfW40 standards is planned.

The municipality hoped for funding "until Economics Minister Habeck threw a spanner in the works".

The funding program was “discontinued overnight”.

There was fear for weeks until it became clear that applications would be possible again from April 20th.

However, since the funding pot was "only" filled with one billion euros, "it was clear that you had to be quick with the application".

Treasurer Michael Little therefore put in a night shift.

At 12:58 a.m. on April 20, he submitted the application.

At 1.30 p.m. the funding pot was empty.

There was still little that could be said about the former barracks.

Klaffenbacher reported "promising talks" for some of the community-owned buildings.

There are interested parties from the educational and social sectors.

"We have commissioned a soil survey in order to be able to enter into concrete negotiations." The municipality would prefer a leasehold award, "but we are not ruling out a sale either".

He didn't want to go into detail, "because we're really in the middle of the negotiations."

State road 2072: "First successes are emerging"

A "long-winded issue" is also the renovation and defusing of state road 2072 between Lenggries and Wegscheid.

Here the land negotiations would now be continued.

"And the first signs of success are emerging," said Klaffenbacher.

His request to the residents: "Have an open ear, because this measure cannot be carried out without the purchase of land or an exchange."

Another long-running issue is the flood protection on Dorfbach, Halsbach and Reiterbach.

"The importance of the flood protection measure is beyond question," said Klaffenbacher.

It's just a matter of finding a viable solution.

"The water management office has assured us that the plans will come this year," said the mayor.

There are no classrooms in Lenggries for refugees from Ukraine

The planning for the sidewalk in Schlegldorf, the construction of a public toilet on Kalkofenweg and the new construction of the Hirschbach bridge should also continue this year.

"I don't know if we'll do everything.

We will probably have to put off some measures.” No one knows what effects the war in Ukraine will have.

Around 60 war refugees are currently housed in Lenggries.

More living space is needed.

Taking in the war refugees is “a major challenge” for everyone, emphasized Klaffenbacher – also because there are so many children and young people among them.

"Two to three kindergarten groups and also classrooms" were missing.

Klaffenbacher announced that an information event for helpers was planned in two weeks.

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier comments on the refugee situation in Lenggries

District Administrator Josef Niedermaier also addressed the topic of war refugees.

People's expectations are always that state units such as the district office "have a plan for everything and know how to do it all".

But for the pandemic or now a war in Europe "there is no plan".

A lot is going well - also because of the great solidarity of the population.

"But one or the other also goes wrong," said Niedermaier.

Overall, you will need staying power: "It's not a sprint, it's going to be a marathon," said the district administrator.

Under certain circumstances, it will become necessary to rethink the high standards that have been set in many areas - also with a view to affordability.

"I hope that such discussions can be held." In any case, he would like to thank everyone who is committed to helping the refugees.

"If we all stick together, we can do it."
