 In Colombia, the presidential candidate Gustavo Petro suspended the activities he had scheduled for this Tuesday and Wednesday in the departments of Quindío and Risaralda -the coffee axis- for security reasons, according to his press team. it's a statement.

"According to the work carried out by the security team, which received first-hand information from sources in the area, the criminal group 'La Cordillera' is planning an attempt on the life of presidential candidate Gustavo Petro Urrego," the text says.

Hours after the announcement by Petro's team, the Colombian National Police reported that "it does not have any intelligence information or information linked to judicial processes that allows inferring the existence of a criminal plan against the candidate."

"Although the existence of any plan against the Petro candidate has not been evidenced, the public information disclosed today was brought to the attention of the Attorney General's Office," the text explains.
