The far-right polemicist, who obtained 7% of the presidential vote, is now "very tempted" by a candidacy for the elections

Éric Zemmour, legislative candidate?

"I'm very tempted, but I'm still hesitating," replied the leader of Reconquête!

during an interview on BFMTV.

But “I still hesitate for a simple reason: will I be able, by presenting myself, to help all my comrades who are on deck?

“, continued the founder of the party.

“We must lead the national campaign, to go and help each other.

It's not easy," insisted the former journalist, adding that his "imminent" decision was "a matter of a few days" before the end of the week.

Regarding his starting point, he said he "looked at the constituencies" in which he "scored more than 20%" in the first round of the presidential election, evoking "the Var", or "Paris".

In view of the legislative elections of June 12 and 19, for which he intends to present "577 candidates", the former polemicist regretted that no negotiations were underway with Marine Le Pen who, according to him, "prefers to kill Reconquest rather than become a force with 100-150 elected representatives” at the Palais-Bourbon.

“If she really wants to resist the Assembly (…) she must agree to make an agreement”, he pleaded, while admitting to having had no contact with the leader of the National Rally since the second round of the presidential election.

But "the contact was never broken", he assured, because "there are people who talk to each other", within the RN and Reconquest.

Éric Zemmour also returned to his first presidential candidacy, marked by a strong breakthrough in the polls, to the point of considering climbing to the second round, before failing at 7%.

"It's my failure, my disappointment"

"It's my failure, my disappointment," he first agreed, before citing Russia's invasion of Ukraine as the main reason for his defeat.

What sinned, "it's Putin", he summarized, explaining that his electorate had then united behind Emmanuel Macron, in a "flag effect", then had reported on Marine Le Pen, following a helpful vote.

“The presidential election, you may think it proves me wrong.

I tell you that she proves me right”, launched Zemmour, arguing that his theses, like that of the “great replacement”, remain “the major subject”.

“I am not saying that the French were wrong (…).

I say that I lost, but that I will be right, I know it, ”he hammered.
