More than 57,000 IDF wounded live in Israel • "Brotherhood Program" accompanies the combatants and gives them a hand on the way back to a full life in society • The goal - to remind them that there is a future after the injury You can live with post-trauma and pain

An IDF wounded man in rehabilitation is planning plans for himself. He imagines how, at the end of his rehabilitation, he will fly abroad, enroll in studies, meet his wife and start a family.

But the injury never remains, and its consequences are hard to predict.

The pains that come and go for a variety of reasons, the nightmares and the white nights, the screams of the friends who were killed right next to him - all these resonate in his head.

The years go by, everyone will move on in the race of life, and an IDF wounded person will feel that he is only going backwards. That with a shy look he told me just that inside, and the moment our eyes crossed I saw how much he wanted to recover.

And we, our job is not to give up, to be with them and for them.

In the "Brothers Program" we accompany the young wounded in the IDF, try to give them a hand on the way back to a full life in our society. We go a long way with them and especially remind them that there is a future after the injury. Trauma and pain.

We see them go through a process where they share, hug, cry and laugh, and above all - they go back to dreaming, dreaming that anything is possible and that they can live a full life.

Not near, not nearly, but really live, even if it's not exactly what they planned before they were injured.

The same wounded man with the shy look was close to giving up, until a friend told him "just come, go into the warrior's house and meet them, listen only for a moment, you have nothing to lose".

And he came, and listened, and gave an opportunity to rediscover himself.

Two years after I saw him open and laugh and cry and hug, he stands by my side and leads together with the Friends of the IDF Disabled People's Association the project "Our story". He, and other exciting and powerful wounded, stand in front of dozens of leading companies in Israel Importantly, they share in the inspiring rehabilitation process they went through. He chose life, and after so many years he truly lives, again.

There are more than 57,000 wounded and wounded in the IDF in Israel, who paid with their bodies and souls for the security of the state and its citizens. Those whose rehabilitation never ends. These days are complex for all of us and for them complex seven times. The wounds that have been bleeding for so many years, giving them the hope that is possible.

Were we wrong?
