After Sergei Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister, caused a stir last night (Sunday) after he said of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zalansky that even Adolf Hitler "had Jewish blood", the reactions in Israel's political system were not long in coming.
Communications Minister Joaz Handel described the things as "delusional", saying that in his remarks Labrub was trying to "justify the horrific acts that the Russians are doing in Ukraine. The contempt of the Holocaust is something I am not willing to accept."
In an interview with Effie Trigger's program in Glatz, Handel was asked why Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid did not respond to Lavrov, saying that "diplomacy has a different time, Israel works accurately."

Another harsh response came from MK Yair Golan (Meretz), who described the statement as "shocking, essentially anti-Semitic and mostly false.
"It reflects the truth of the Russian government - a violent government that does not hesitate to eliminate its rivals from within, invade a foreign country and treat it with a guilt that it renews Nazism."
Yad Vashem chairman Danny Dayan also responded to Lavrov's statement, saying that it was "absurd, delusional and dangerous things that deserve all condemnation."
The Anti-Defamation League also attacked Lavrov, saying: "In his desperate efforts to justify Russia's invasion of Ukraine, he is resorting to highly offensive analogies and false comparisons. Abuse of the Nazis, Hitler and the Holocaust must stop."
