The municipality of Wessobrunn has approved its budget for 2022.

It has a budget of over eleven million euros.

In addition to the corona pandemic, inflation is now also making itself felt.

Wessobrunn –

Creating a municipality's budget is always a matter that is accompanied by many imponderables and poses a great challenge to everyone involved.

In the last two years, the pandemic has been the big question mark, making budgeting enormously difficult.

In addition to Corona, which is still an issue, there is another difficulty this year with inflation.

"We have to see where our expenses are going," said Wessobrunn's treasurer Anett Bauer-Wunderlich when presenting the figures to the municipal council.

The total budget volume is roughly in line with the plan for the previous year, which provided for 10.8 million euros.

The figures for the current year show a total budget of 11.1 million euros.

"The asset budget is so high because the billing for the broadband expansion has been postponed completely to 2022," explained Bauer-Wunderlich.

She expects income of around 1.4 million euros from trade tax, which is in the magnitude of the previous year.

"That's definitely positive, we're above the average of the last three years," explained the treasurer.

The income tax contribution is also almost 1.5 million euros at the level of 2021. The key allocation, which was completely absent in the previous year, is now set at 146,000 euros.

The increase in rental and leasing income by around 30,000 euros to 191,000 euros, which is partly due to the letting of the premises in the town hall, is striking in the income from the administrative budget.

The big chunks on the expenditure side are the personnel costs, which amount to 1.6 million euros (previous year 1.48 million euros).

"That's a target figure, so we've planned a cover reserve," reported Bauer-Wunderlich.

The second major item, the district levy, fell from EUR 1.85 million in the previous year to EUR 1.47 million now.

"I'm curious to see where this is going, it will probably increase again in the future." The treasurer expects higher burdens in this area in the next few years.

In the asset budget, which includes almost 5.7 million euros, the broadband expansion has the most significant impact with 4.4 million euros.

In contrast, the construction projects for roads, water pipes, the town hall and the Forst fire station are comparatively manageable with a total of around 650,000 euros.

The capital budget is largely financed from the grants for broadband expansion amounting to more than 4.2 million euros.

Added to this are the sale of fixed assets (175,000 euros), contributions (336,000 euros), an allocation from the administrative budget (133,000 euros), a loan (360,000 euros) and a withdrawal from the reserves (426,000 euros).

The latter still amount to 2.3 million euros.

In comparison, the monastery community had debts of almost 1.2 million euros at the end of 2022.

"The lowest possible debt must continue to be given high priority," Bauer-Wunderlich advised the municipal council at the end of the presentation of figures.

At the same time, she made it clear that income and expenditure "must be closely monitored in the current situation in order to be able to take countermeasures quickly".
