Parents in Haar can breathe a sigh of relief: afternoon care is guaranteed.

The municipality is making a good 100,000 euros available for staff and equipment.

Haar

– The afternoon care for around 200 children and young people from the elementary schools in Jagdfeld and St. Konrad and the middle school in Haar is secured.

Despite the tense budgetary situation, the municipality approved a good 100,000 euros for this and the coming school year and has thus complied with a subsidy application from the adult education center, which guarantees this care.

The municipal council gave its approval by a vote of 21:7.

Many parents should breathe a sigh of relief.

The adult education center, which takes care of the afternoon care on behalf of the municipality, is taking care of 204 children and young people in the current school year.

At the Mittelschule 98, at the Jagdfeld elementary school 48 and at the Konradschule 58. "In order to provide this care service, we need secure finances and sufficient space," said VHS chairwoman Gabriele Müller and managing director Lourdes Maria Ros de Andre's in the grant application explained.

“Parents rely on our childcare services and have to quickly look for alternatives if the range is reduced.”

100,000 euros for additional staff and equipment

That's not necessary now, because the community is approving a good 100,000 euros for additional staff and equipment.

In the past, administrative staff at the VHS had to step in to provide support in the event of bottlenecks, and overtime was collected.

The municipality has now approved an additional 30 hours per week for a department manager, which costs around 54,000 euros a year;

After a lengthy discussion, 15 hours per week for bookkeeping, four for management, and also 20.7 hours per week for a stand-in were approved.

After the move of the largest trade tax payer, the pharmaceutical company MSD, and unexpected additional costs of around 3.2 million euros, the municipality has to keep a close eye on the money for the community center renovation and Jagdfeldschule projects.

The municipality will initially only bear these costs until the end of the 2022/23 school year.

Because in the longer term, a "joint consideration, further development and optimization of the offers" is planned in a development process.

A first workshop "Educational landscape hair - legal entitlement to all-day care" is already planned.
