A serious change is coming to the customers of Sparkasse Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.

The spokesman for the company confirms this.

But will that soon become a problem, especially for older customers?

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – The pensioner Josef Müller (name changed by the editor) is a loyal customer of the Sparkasse Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.

But current information from his financial institution has brought the senior on the palm: the payment of cash at the counter, according to the Sparkasse, will be stopped at the end of May.

From now on, cash is only available at machines.

This is a "defamatory form of exclusion" of older people, many of whom would still be at loggerheads with the tin mates, complains Müller.

Sparkasse stops paying out at the counter - cash only at the machine

The spokesman for Sparkasse Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Willi Streicher, confirmed the forthcoming change when asked by our newspaper.

The only exception: "In Geretsried and Lenggries, the changeover will not take place until autumn." Streicher points out that operating the ATMs is very simple - and that cashless payment has also been enjoying increasing popularity for years.

In this context, the corona pandemic had the effect of a turbocharger, Streicher speaks of an “unanticipated dynamic”.

Not only the savings bank, but also all competitors have noticed: Electronic payments are increasing sharply, cash withdrawals are declining sharply.

Savings bank change for cash payment: Customers informed about change

Against this background, the decision was made: From May 30th, cash will be "processed" by the Sparkasse throughout the district exclusively via ATMs - with the exception of Geretsried and the municipality of Lenggries.

This means that if you want to withdraw euros or deposit them into an account, you have to do it at the machine - this has been the case for some time in the Sparkasse advice centers in Bad Tölz and Benediktbeuern.

We help all our customers with the changeover and are happy to show everyone personally how easy and convenient the machines are now.

Willi Streicher, spokesman for Sparkasse Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

According to Streicher, all private customers who have used the cash service at the counter in the past three months have been informed of the change, as have all business customers.

In connection with the realignment, he points out: “The processing of money is very time-consuming and costly.

By shifting to the machines, the colleagues have more freedom for other activities in customer business, especially for advice.”

Special service: Sparkasse sends cash by post

In an interview with our newspaper, Streicher also points out a special cash service from the Sparkasse: “We are happy to send our customers cash by post on order – free of charge and at our own risk”.

In addition, almost all supermarkets in the region would offer the option of withdrawing money from the account when shopping.

Pensioner Müller does not make all this happy.

He is of the opinion that not all seniors are as tech-savvy "as is always claimed".

And he fears that many older semesters "are ashamed" and would therefore not ask for help.

Streicher would like to dispel such doubts and bases himself on past experiences: "We found that after a short period of familiarization, we always found ways to easily obtain cash."

Streicher attaches great importance to the statement: "We help all our customers with the changeover and are happy to show everyone personally how easy and convenient the machines are now."
