The migrants had been living under a bridge in the 18th arrondissement of Paris for two months, Pierre Mathurin, of Utopia 56, told AFP. According to him, the evacuation was decided following attacks perpetrated by people outside the camp, towards these migrants.

According to Pierre Mathurin, of Utopia 56, most of these people are "
isolated minors in recourse
", i.e. people who say they are minors but whose age of minority has not been recognized by the evaluation system. (which depends on the department).
They have therefore appealed and are awaiting a hearing in juvenile court, a period which can last from six to 18 months.
The evacuation was uneventful, he added.
The prefecture specifies that since the beginning of 2022, “
1120 people have been sheltered as part of operations regularly carried out by State services
