The FEHD and the Police inspected a total of 354 catering premises and seven other premises in the joint operation from April 30 to May 2. The FEHD also inspected a total of 1,224 catering premises and 334 other premises.

In the past three days, the FEHD has initiated prosecution proceedings against persons in charge of 49 catering establishments suspected of violating the instructions, which is 3.1% of the catering establishments inspected.

The FEHD has requested the relevant premises to take corresponding measures to reduce the risk of transmission. A person in charge of a catering business who violates the requirements and directions of the Regulation or the Vaccine Pass is liable to prosecution and, upon conviction, to a fine of up to $50,000 and imprisonment for six months.

Persons present at catering premises or other specified premises are also required to comply with the relevant requirements applicable to them. A breach of the relevant requirements is an offence punishable by a maximum fine of $10,000.

The FEHD has also joined hands with the Police, Labour Department, relevant District Offices and the LCSD to conduct inter-departmental joint operations in public places where citizens, including domestic helpers, gather in multiple districts on weekends and holidays.

During the operation, FEHD issued a total of 15 fixed penalty notices to offenders of cleanliness offences, and picked up 13 batches of hawker discarded items (including cooked food).

Other government departments have also reminded domestic helpers to comply with regulations on wearing masks and prohibiting gatherings in public places.
