Many times, in our daily lives, halakhic questions arise and topical doubts arise.

Rabbi Shai Tahan, head of the Shaare Ezra Kollel and head of the Arazi Lebanon Teaching House, makes the laws accessible to us and answers questions asked in and out of the beit midrash.

And today: Do e-cigarettes require kosher.

Question

:

For some time now my friends and I have been smoking e-cigarettes in different flavors, but recently a local rabbi drew my attention to the fact that these flavors may not be allowed without kosher, and I wanted to know if there are things in the body.

Answer

:

Hello to the important questioner.

Before touching on kosher issues, one must pay attention to the problem of danger that those e-cigarettes bring with them.

At first, those cigarettes were welcomed because they were intended to be a safer substitute for regular tobacco cigarettes that are known for all their harm and there is no need to prolong it, and we will only mention the frightening findings that in Israel about 8,000 people die each year from smoking and about six million people worldwide. That smoking causes.

However, while e-cigarettes were supposed to exclude the danger, a remarkably serious problem arose: By the time those cigarettes went out into the world, the number of smokers had dwindled, and the problem of smoking seemed to be almost a thing of the past. Them, however after the distribution of these electronic closures a very wide public who were not smokers at all joined the smoking crowd, and moreover - the stumbling block has mostly spread to the youth public and the age of smokers has dropped remarkably.

Worse still it should be noted that while a person who smokes a regular cigarette, the same cigarette is going to quit after a few inhalations, e-cigarette does not end and the same smokers often tend to smoke non-stop all day.

Moreover, the findings clearly show that smoking an e-cigarette creates a higher level of dependence and addiction than smoking regular cigarettes.

And since these cigarettes have toxic juices (indeed less than tobacco cigarettes but still at a considerable level) and their evil is great - it must be aroused because of the duty of preserving the body and mind learned from the verse: Halachot De'a Chapter 4 Halacha a): "Since the body is healthy and whole from the ways of Gd, it is impossible for him to understand or know anything from the knowledge of the Creator and he is sick, therefore man must distance himself from things that lose the body, and lead himself in things that heal and heal."

And here regarding kosher: the same closures, it should be noted that in the liquid given in this cigarette are things that may very well be forbidden, such as glycerin which is given for the purpose of the taste that originates from the animal and is considered a real Torah prohibition.

Although the Shulchan Aruch (Adv. It harms the person and is not pleasant for him at all (Thos. 7: 2, 2: 4), while inhaling the above cigarette is pleasant and evening and therefore forbidden.

And here our gentlemen have already discussed the issue of smoking cigarettes and cigars that contain forbidden things (the reason they give these substances and such as glycerin is to keep it fresh so it does not dry out) and some have raised the ban and some have written to allow, but if we examine carefully Electronics and as we will explain below:

The first to be permitted is the King's Gate (p.

First, since Shane Nesech is a Durban prohibition (that according to the Torah it is forbidden only to drink wine for foreign work), it is possible that our sages only forbade the ingestion of that wine and did not forbid the inhaling of its scent.

And it is clear that this closure that we are discussing should not be allowed according to this, since glycerin is forbidden from the Torah.

Second, the King's Gate wrote to allow that there may be sixty times against the same wine and therefore it is considered null and void, and also according to us the closing liquids should not be allowed since the amount of the ban is multiple and more is given because of its sweet and good taste, D. C. Tzach Sach in the Rama)

.

And for the last taste he wanted to liken cigars to inhaling barrel wine in that the same inhalation smells strong and harms the inhaler and there is no inhalation in the evening and according to this we have already explained above that inhaling those electronic cigarettes is pleasant and evening.

Found: that even in the opinion of the facilitators there is no side to lightening the e-cigarette without kosher.

Moreover it should be noted that the one who inhales from the above cigarette will find rinses from the liquid entering into his mouth, and otherwise we are discussing not only because inhaling prohibitions but also because swallowing forbidden drops.

Moreover, it should be known that there is a fundamental difference between smoking regular closures that a person inhales smoke according to electronic closures that do not put in smoke but the liquid vapor and steam inhalation is considered in halakhah as inhaling the actually forbidden food (sweat as farms, Adv.

He wrote in the Minchat Yitzhak responsa (H.H. C. 16) that even if it is easy to smoke a regular tobacco cigarette, it should not be smoked non-stop between the mouth and the cigarette, so it should be given as a kind of tube in the cigarette mouth, and according to him To allow, but certainly not things are similar since in our case it strives according to the prohibition really and not smoke and therefore the thing is certainly forbidden.

And it should not be discussed to allow because the liquid is not good and unfit for eating, and such as what led to dissolve in the Tzemach Tzedek responsa (quoted in Fatehi Teshuvah Yod Rish C. Tzach) This is therefore forbidden (a column in the name of Rosh or C. Tamb).
