A woman was killed by a man with a knife in Burgdorf (Hanover region).
The 35-year-old died at the scene despite resuscitation, a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
The police were alerted in the late afternoon because a woman was lying on the street with serious injuries.
The alleged perpetrator - a 37-year-old - had turned himself in to the police.
Burgdorf – The spokeswoman was initially unable to provide any information on the motive for the crime.
It was also unclear what the relationship was between the man and the woman.
The 35-year-old suffered stab wounds.
Officials are now looking for witnesses.
