McGivern, who then appeared, was able to stop a handbag thrown at Depp, as well as Heard himself, who spat at Depp during the "verbal abuse of the two", according to the security officer.
Heard went on to tell Depp he was "discarded" as an actor and then left the apartment.
Depp then allegedly vandalized Heard's closet by ripping out all the fixings and throwing some items down the stairs.
When Heard returned, the dispute escalated.
"Out of the corner of my eye I saw a fist and an arm come over my right shoulder and I heard and saw a closed fist hit Mr. Depp in the left side of his face.
That was Ms. Heard's fist,” McGivern said on the witness stand.
The security man denied any kind of physical violence by Depp.
"The first look on his face mirrored mine, kind of a shock.
Like, 'What just happened?
Where does it come from?'
At that point, I didn't want to allow Mr. Depp to get hit any more, so I took him down the last flight of stairs to the lower floor and told him, 'We're leaving'." McGivern generally witnessed frequent bickering from the couple, in whose relationship there was "a bunch of verbal nastiness".
