Zhirnov lived in a rented apartment, Apartment 5 on the third floor of the shared building at 40 Jordan Street in Haifa.

Pavel Orlov, who was then separated from his girlfriend with whom he shared an apartment in another area of the city, lived in the rented apartment of Gyrnov for about two months.

He sleeps in the bedroom and Jernov sleeps in the living room.

According to the indictment, a dispute arose between the two against the background of Orlov's refusal to change Girnov's apartment, as he did not pay his share of the rent.

The indictment states that the two were alone in the apartment, Zhirnov equipped himself with a large kitchen knife in the kitchen, went into the bedroom, where Orlov was sleeping at the time, stabbed him in the neck with a deep stab, twisted the blade while cutting and then cut his left cheek with the knife.

According to the indictment, Zhirnov then pulled Orlov out of bed, who was bleeding profusely, and dragged him down the hallway of the apartment to near the front door.

There, he laid him on his stomach with his face to the floor, handcuffed his hands behind his back using two handcuffs he fastened together, put his head in a garbage bag and put his feet in a garbage bag and the prosecution claims all this to ensure and verify his death.

It also appears that around 6:15 PM that day, neighbor Ruslan Spaniev noticed Zhirnov leaving his apartment with his legs full of blood.

Girenov told him he was injured, but Spaniev looked inside the apartment and saw a man tied with his face on the floor.

Zhirnov told him: "You have not seen anything."

But then he said, "He's dead, but do not tell anyone, help me hide him."

Spaniev walked away and called the police on his cell phone, who arrived at the scene shortly afterwards, arresting Zhirnov near the building when blood was on his shoes, pants and shirt.

He immediately told police officers involved in his arrest that he had murdered his friend and he was in the apartment.

After a few minutes they did locate Orlov's body in the apartment.

The MDA team called by the police had no choice but to determine Orlov's death on the spot. His body was sent that night to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir.
