After four years there is again a water turtle at the University of Augsburg.

A hobby photographer discovered the new "Campus Turtle" in Unisee.

Augsburg – The amateur photographer Werner Rebel actually wanted to photograph native animal species such as ducks or their chicks at the Unisee of the University of Augsburg.

Contrary to expectations, however, he got an exotic animal in front of the lens, as reported by the

Augsburger Allgemeine

.

I saw what looked like a broken soccer ball.

That something disappeared into the water in a flash.

In the reeds of Lake Uni, the 59-year-old amateur photographer made an extraordinary discovery that he initially thought was something quite banal:

"I saw what looked like a broken soccer ball."

However, at second glance, after he had sharpened it with his camera lens, it was revealed - it must be something alive.

"This something disappeared in the water in a flash," explains the Augsburger, according to the report.

Fortunately, he was able to press the shutter button a few more times beforehand and capture his discovery for eternity.

According to the

Augsburger Allgemeine

, after Werner Rebel took a closer look at his photographs, he realized that what was found in the Unisee was not an old football, but an exotic turtle.

The hobby photographer thinks it's a red-eared slider.

He is particularly happy about the rare snapshots on the premises of the University of Augsburg: "Normally I always have native animals such as birds, beavers, squirrels or deer in front of the camera."

New “Campus Turtle”: The University of Augsburg already had a turtle in the Unisee in 2017

The exotic water turtle that has just appeared is not the first turtle that has found a new home in Unisee.

As early as 2017, a turtle was discovered on the premises of the University of Augsburg and christened it "Campus Turtle".

In addition to the "Campus Cat", the "Campus Turtle" has become a popular mascot for students at the University of Augsburg.

Unfortunately, the exotic tortoise did not survive the cold winter in Augsburg.

Let's hope that the new "Campus Turtle" doesn't meet the same sad fate.
