It is an impressive amount of aid: 41 pallets of material relief goods and a good 32,000 euros will bring the “Help together – alleviate distress” campaign not only to Ukrainian refugees in the Polish monastery of Jasna Góra, but also to the population of Ukraine.

Bockhorn/Holzland - Initially it was planned to use the joint fundraising campaign of the parish associations Bockhorn and Holzland as well as the sports clubs FC Hohenpolding, FSV Steinkirchen, FC Inning am Holz, FC Grünbach, SV Bockhorn, SC Kirchasch and FC Hörgersdorf for women and children in the Pauline monastery and in to support Poland in general.

Because aid transports within the war zone are still being shot at and robbed by the Russian side, said Father Philipp, a priest in the Bockhorn parish association.

On site, however, there was an opportunity to bring a first part of the donations collected at the end of March, including 5000 euros in cash, to the Kamieniec Podolski monastery in western Ukraine and to Brovary near Kyiv.

This is thanks to the voluntary and risky commitment of motorcyclists who took over the organization, the drive with two vans and the escort.

"There are close friendships between Polish and Ukrainian biker clubs, and some Ukrainian motorcyclists have been in Poland since the outbreak of war," explains Father Philipp, explaining how the unexpected delivery came about.

Together with Holzland pastor Jacek Jamiolkowski and Schrödinger sacristan Stefan Lachner, he accompanied the aid transport from Fürstenfeldbruck.

Two Malteser employees drove the 40-ton truck with a trailer.

"We are really happy about this help," says Sandra Bachmeier, administrative manager of both parish associations, thanking them for the journey and the logistical effort that the Malteser took care of.

Declaration, customs or toll exemption were additional hurdles for the action, which were handled by experienced parties.

Bachmeier thanks Sebastian Oberpriller in person, who, as district manager of the Malteser and member of SC Kirchasch, made the cooperation possible.

Half of the petrol costs were borne by the VR-Bank Taufkirchen-Dorfen and the Raiffeisenbank Erding.

In accordance with the request, the parish associations mainly donated hygiene articles, non-perishable food, corona tests, sleeping bags, blankets and sleeping mats.

The Erding fire brigade participated with three pallets of disinfectant.

Nobody expected more than 32,000 euros.

"I didn't expect such generosity," says Father Philipp, and Bachmaier speaks of a "gigantic sum" to which the footballers' collections during the games and large amounts from individuals contributed.

After a 14-hour journey, the convoy reached the Pauline monastery in southern Poland. After the handover, the two pastors stayed a day longer than the Maltese drivers.

There was no direct contact with the 120 women and children who hope to return to their homeland soon.

With the accommodation and a separate part of the monastery complex, the monastery management would like to offer protection and peace, which the helpers accepted with understanding.

Father Dr.

In letters to the two parish associations and each of the seven sports clubs, Arnold Chrapkowski thanked him with the words: “God bless you for your trust and your helpful deed.

We commend you and all benefactors in our prayers to the protection of Our Lady, the Queen of Peace.”
