70th birthday of Baden-Württemberg: state parliament celebrates

Just in time for the state's anniversary, there was once again a fight between the people of Württemberg and Baden.

The latter complained that they were not invited to a conference.

Now there is a big celebration in the state parliament - with everyone who belongs to it.

Stuttgart - The state parliament wants to celebrate the 70th birthday of the state of Baden-Württemberg with a big anniversary event on Wednesday evening (6:30 p.m.).

About 400 guests are invited.

For the President of the State Parliament, Muhterem Aras, the founding of the south-western state in April 1952 marked “the beginning of a remarkable success story”.

Baden-Württemberg skillfully combines tradition and innovation, closeness to its homeland and cosmopolitanism.

Recently, however, there had been trouble because the Baden side was not invited to a panel discussion on the anniversary.

On this Wednesday evening, Badeners will also be on stage, for example the Mannheim comedian Bülent Ceylan.

He should ask himself the question with other participants in the discussion: "Where do we want to go?"

Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann recently declared that in the 70th year of the state's existence there were no longer any people from Baden.

"Today there are only people from Baden-Württemberg," said the 73-year-old, whose parents once came from East Prussia and who now lives in Sigmaringen.

“The state of Baden has merged into Baden-Württemberg.
