The corona numbers in Bavaria continue to decline.

At the PK after the cabinet meeting, Aiwanger warns of supply bottlenecks due to China's corona policy.

  • Corona

    in Bavaria

    : New

    corona loosening

applies in Bavaria's schools and daycare centers

    (see first report).

  • The press conference after the cabinet meeting was about Corona, the Ukraine refugees, the new higher education law in Bavaria and the current economic situation

(see updates from May 3rd, from 1:07 p.m.).

  • This ticker on the Corona situation in Bavaria is updated regularly.

Update from May 3, 2:15 p.m

.: The press conference is over.

The Bavarian Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters), who was very concerned about the corona measures in China (see previous update), left a lasting impression.

While the numbers in Germany continue to fall and easing continues to come into force (see initial report), the tough corona measures in China could lead to supply bottlenecks in Bavaria, Aiwanger fears.

Aiwanger also warned of a supply embargo for oil and gas from Russia with regard to the consequences for the economy.

In the same breath he appealed to the federal government not to "flatten" hydropower in Bavaria.

Florian Herrmann (CSU) also addressed a few words to the federal government: He advocated maintaining the "proven practice" in the assumption of costs for the Ukraine refugees by the federal government.

Ukraine war, China's corona policy and supply bottlenecks: Aiwanger is concerned

1:42 p.m .:

Aiwanger take care of the corona measures in China.

The Chinese “have very tough lockdown regulations.” You have to expect that there will be delivery bottlenecks.

He hopes that "China will not continue to spoil the situation for us".

China is an important trading partner that has helped a lot to bridge the difficult Corona situation through exports to Asia.

It now seems as if this pendulum is swinging in the other direction.

1:39 p.m.:

Steps are being taken to break the gas and oil dependency on Russia, but at the same time Aiwanger warns against imposing a premature embargo or risking Putin turning off the faucet.

Bavaria is currently in talks to expand sustainable energy resources.

There are measures to expand wind power in Bavaria.

Aiwanger criticizes the federal government's plans to "flatten" hydropower.

You need these power plants in Bavaria.

1:37 p.m .:

Hubert Aiwanger (free voters) begins with a warning: “Storm clouds are waiting on the horizon,” says Aiwanger.

The consequences of the Ukraine crisis, especially the high and rising energy prices are worrying.

Support from the federal government is needed here to cushion the consequences.

The Minister of State is pleased that the gas situation is not getting any worse.

The gas storage facilities are currently being filled, and one hopes to be able to go into the winter without any worries.

Bavaria: New higher education law for the "entire university family"

1:33 p.m .:

Finally, Blume thanks everyone who worked on the bill, including his predecessor.

He is pleased that the law has now been launched.

1:32 p.m .:

Young scientists are also important.

Here you find yourself in global competition.

The new law is intended to help preserve university diversity.

Blume emphasizes that all departments have an equal weighting.

Here he emphasizes the humanities and social sciences in particular.

The new higher education law is a law for the entire university family and for all of Bavaria.

1:31 p.m .:

The topic of founding a new, central task for the universities, supported by various measures such as semesters free of founding.

The topic of technology transfer should also be strengthened.

Universities should be able to build themselves, says Blume.

Lessons have been learned from Corona, it is also a new reality after Corona.

University in Bavaria - Blume: "We want the smartest minds!"

1:28 p.m

.: Markus Blume (CSU) opens the next big topic block, the situation of the universities.

Here he proudly presents the large number of students.

The most modern higher education law in Germany is now being introduced, said Blume.

"We want the smartest minds in Bavaria!" It was shown here that you have to get faster.

Here, too, the presumably most modern appointment law in Germany would be introduced.

It's about winning over top minds.

1:20 p.m .:

The next topic is unemployment in Freistatt.

The unemployment rate has fallen, and in all working groups.

"That's very gratifying," says Herrmann.

The training market is also to be rated positively, the Ukraine conflict is not (yet) having an impact on the labor market.

However, transport difficulties and other consequences of the war could affect the labor market in the future.

Here, too, support for the job centers is expected from the federal government.

Herrmann's final appeal: the federal government must react to the higher burden on the job centers affected.

Ukraine refugees in Bavaria: Discussions about assumption of costs

1:18 p.m .:

Now it’s about taking over the costs for the Ukraine refugees.

Discussions about funding are currently taking place here.

According to Herrmann, they want to stick to the previously "proven" practice, according to which the federal government reimburses 100 percent of the costs of the municipalities.

1:14 p.m .:

You try to be prepared for the fall, but the current situation allows for the almost non-existent restrictions.

It continues with the Ukraine refugees in Bavaria.

A third of all Ukraine refugees who have arrived in Germany are currently in Bavaria.

Therefore, one must continue to take care of the accommodation and food for the people.

Always prepare for different scenarios.

It is difficult to predict how the situation in Ukraine would develop, said Herrmann.

Corona in Bavaria: the situation continues to ease

1.10 p.m .:

Corona is the first topic.

There is good news to report here, hospital occupancy and incidence have fallen, and normality is getting closer and closer.

1:07 p.m .:

The press conference begins with a slight delay.

The topic of today's cabinet meeting, chaired by Markus Söder, was the consequences of the Ukraine crisis, the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act and the current corona situation.

Florian Herrmann (CSU) opens the press conference.

Update from May 3rd, 12 noon:

The Bavarian cabinet around Markus Söder is advising today on the current corona situation in the Free State.

At 1 p.m., State Chancellery Minister Dr.

Florian Herrmann, Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger and Science Minister Markus Blume on the main results of the consultations.

Other topics are probably the war in Ukraine and the new Higher Education Innovation Act.

As always, you can follow the press conference live here in the stream or in the ticker.

First report from May 2nd:

Munich – The 7-day incidence in the Free State is falling.

For Monday (May 2), the RKI reported a value of 631.4.

However, it should be noted that the Bavarian health authorities no longer have to report current corona numbers to the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) on weekends and public holidays.

Accordingly, the LGL no longer reports infection numbers to the RKI, but only on the following working day.

The RKI emphasizes: "Daily fluctuations should therefore not be overestimated - especially at the weekend and at the beginning of the week."

Corona in Bavaria: New easing in daycare centers and schools on Monday

In the most recent cabinet meeting around Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU), the 16th Infection Protection Measures Ordinance was extended until May 28th.

Means.

Most basic corona protection measures remain in place in Bavaria.

You can read about them here.

In daycare centers and schools, however, it was agreed to relax.

These have been in effect since Sunday (May 1st).

According to a statement from the state government, schools will no longer be required to take tests from Monday (May 2nd).

“This applies to regular, unprovoked testing as well as to school testing in the event of an infection.

The visit is possible again without restrictions.”

Likewise, the test requirements in childcare are no longer applicable with immediate effect.

If a child tests positive for the corona virus, it must remain at home - it is not allowed to go to daycare or school for several days.

In this case, the obligation to isolate still applies in Bavaria.

After five days, the isolation can be ended without free testing if no typical corona symptoms have occurred 48 hours before.

The Bavarian Ministry of Health recommends wearing a mask for five days after the end of isolation.

Holetschek on Corona: Good experiences in Bavaria with shortened isolation

According to its Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU), Bavaria has had “very good” experiences with the isolation time for corona infected people being reduced to five days.

The incidence is falling, the situation in the hospitals is relaxed, said the CSU politician on Monday in the ZDF “Morgenmagazin”.

In Bavaria, the rule has been in effect since mid-April.

The Free State had also decided against the obligation to test free after five days.

Holetschek pointed out that you have to be symptom-free 48 hours before the end of the isolation.

However, Bavaria recommends wearing a mask for a while afterwards.

In the case of vulnerable groups, however, it remains a free test.
