Proceeding from the plan of the National Union of Syrian Students and the Watan Document Foundation in promoting culture and raising awareness among Syrian youth and their participation in writing the history of the homeland, the Union and the Foundation launched the annual competition “This is my story 2022” for the best short realistic story that they witnessed themselves and bears meaningful human values.

The competition aims, according to a statement by the Students’ Union, of which SANA received a copy today, to directly access people’s stories and record the facts and details of the events they experienced. It targets students of public and private universities in Syria, as well as students of higher and middle institutes, graduate students and university students studying abroad.

The competition includes several conditions for participation in it, which are that the contestant submits one entry that falls under one of the announced categories, provided that it is not published or participating in a competition or other event, that the contestant is a Syrian university student residing inside or outside the country, and that the story is in classical Arabic, written or Audio-recorded or video-recorded, with a word limit of 1,500 to 3,000 words.

It is also a condition that the story be based on real events that explain the places and dates of their occurrence, as witnessed by the owner of the story himself, while stories based on imagination or conclusion, or stories published or transmitted from people or other sources, as well as stories that contain abuse or violation of the law or morals will be excluded. the public.

The categories of stories include several topics, namely the war on Syria, students’ memoirs, narration of events and cultural heritage, in addition to stories of challenge and success, stories that reflect the concerns of young people, and memoirs about alienation.

The number of prizes for the winning stories is 18 prizes according to the categories of story topics, so that each category is allocated three prizes of “gold, silver and bronze” value of 800,000 for the first place, 600,000 for the second place and 400,000 for the third place.

Receiving stories starts from the fifth of this month and continues until the 31st of next July, and the stories are sent to the award platform on the Internet: ww-sy.org or e-mail: hekayati@ww-sy.org or via WhatsApp On the number (0987001616).

The Watan Document, which launched this competition for the first time in the summer of 2019, is a non-governmental and non-profit organization concerned with knowledge documentation and oral history, which was launched on June 9, 2016.
