The Westring in Poing will have a new cycle path on both sides.

There is also a sidewalk on one side.

The conversion will soon be presented to residents.

Poing – With the growth of the community of Poing in the north, the traffic on the roads there increases.

The west ring is a bottleneck. The road that leads south along the allotment garden and on the other side of which borders residential development is being redesigned.

So far there have been two variants to choose from, the building committee of the Poing municipal council decided in favor of one of the two in its meeting on Tuesday evening: on the south side of the west ring (where the houses are located), a footpath and cycle path separate from the road will be created.

For this purpose, the existing footpath will be moved further north and thus away from property entrances that are difficult to see.

A number of longitudinal parking spaces will also be created on the south side.

A cycle path will be built on the north side (along the allotment garden).

The bushes and trees there have to go,

Poing: The building committee decides on one variant

In the other variant, which the building committee is no longer pursuing, a pedestrian and cycle path is marked on the north side of the west ring, which would mean that the green strip to the allotment garden is only about half a meter wide.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

With the variant decided by the building committee on Tuesday, the municipal administration will go to a residents' meeting and present the details to the residents of the west ring.

This also includes the new roundabout that is being built at the junction with Plieninger Straße.

It also explains where bus stops will be or will remain.

Westring Poing: Tempo 30 should remain

At a building committee meeting in autumn 2021, both Mayor Thomas Stark and the members emphasized that they advocate a consistent speed limit of 30 km/h on the Westring.

As is the case now.

However, the higher authorities such as the Poing Police Inspectorate have the last word here.

She is in favor of the 50 km/h speed limit, which is generally valid in town, in order to adapt the Westring to the subsequent Bergfeldstraße.

A discussion that is not over yet - with an open outcome.

Traffic will double

Mayor Thomas Stark pointed out in the current committee meeting that a noise protection study was still being carried out - the aim was to make the noise pollution as bearable as possible for the residents.

After the residents' meeting, the municipal council will finally decide on the expansion variant of the west ring.

According to a traffic report, traffic will roughly double due to the two new development areas W7 (including high school) and W8 on Bergfeldstraße and the Westring, to (depending on the route section) 7200 to 9400 vehicles per 24 hours.
