Dominican diplomat kidnapped in Haiti released

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic confirmed the release of Carlitin Guillén Tatis, a Dominican diplomat who was kidnapped in Haiti.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Roberto Álvarez, confirmed this Wednesday through his social networks the release of Carlitin Guillén Tatis, a Dominican diplomat who was kidnapped in Haiti.

“Fortunately, Carlitin Guillen Tatis, advisor to the Dominican embassy in Haiti, has been released safe and sound, after 4 days of kidnapping.

We thank everyone who actively participated in his release, ”Álvarez wrote through his Twitter account.

The foreign minister did not reveal the conditions of the release of Guillén Tatis, who is a commercial agricultural attaché at the embassy of the Dominican Republic in Haiti.

The Dominican government had reported the kidnapping of its diplomat on Sunday and that it asked Haiti to initiate an "immediate investigation" to contribute to his release.

The Haitian authorities have not made a public statement on this case.

CNN contacted the Foreign Ministry of that country and the Haitian embassy in Santo Domingo, but so far has not received a response.
