The General Foundation for Feed works to strengthen the livestock sector by limiting the significant increases in the prices of feed materials through several measures, most notably increasing the quantities of feed offered in the local market and rationed fodder and contracting to supply additional quantities of maize, barley and soybean meal.
In a statement to SANA, Director General of the General Fodder Corporation, Abdul Karim Shabat, indicated that the prices of feed materials in the local market decreased by more than 25 percent after offering a large amount of feed materials at reasonable prices, pointing out that a tender was announced to supply 50 thousand tons of yellow maize. In addition to continuing to announce the purchase of 40 thousand tons of barley and 20 thousand tons of soybean meal.
In the same context, the concerned authorities are working to reduce the costs of the feed import bill, according to February, by providing feed materials from local markets and encouraging farmers to grow corn as one of the vital materials needed to secure the needs of livestock, in addition to providing great support for the establishment of dryers for yellow corn and its inclusion in the program of substitution of alternatives Imports were also recently included in the loan interest rate subsidy program.
Shabat said that the corporation owned four huge dryers distributed in the governorates of Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Hasaka, and all of these dryers were destroyed by terrorist groups, revealing that the contract for the rehabilitation of Deir Hafer dryer in Aleppo is under certification procedures, with a value of about 9.9 billion pounds and a production capacity of 50 tons per hour, in addition to To announce the rehabilitation of two other dryers in the governorates of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa.
February pointed out that the stock of fodder materials is stable from various fodder materials, as 138 thousand tons were secured, of which the sold quantity exceeded 110 thousand tons, with a value of more than 100 billion pounds since the beginning of this year, indicating that the return of the Tartous fodder factory to production will contribute to providing an important part of the manufactured fodder with high quality.
The production of grain corn reached about 215,000 tons during 2021, and production estimates for the current year will rise to about 400,000 tons, which contributes to providing millions of dollars in foreign exchange needed to import such an amount from global markets, especially in light of the recent global rises.
