Major events such as lake festivals are also becoming more sustainable at Tegernsee.

The three lake festival communities and Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH have agreed on this.

First decisions were made.

Tegernsee – The ecological footprint, resource consumption and waste separation are topics that are gaining in importance, especially at major events.

Therefore, the lake festivals in Tegernsee and Rottach-Egern as well as the anniversary event "#wiessee100", which replaces the lake festival there this year, are to be organized in a sustainable manner for the first time.

All three lake festival communities have made this their goal with the Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT).

As part of the Leader project "Concept for improving the quality of cultural offerings in the Tegernsee Valley", answers and initial implementations for better sustainability were developed in workshops with landlords, communities and club representatives.

Under the leadership of the sustainability officer Michael Götz and the event manager Peter Rie, the TTT sat at a table with the three participating municipalities, the ecological model region Miesbacher Oberland and with Vivo, the municipal company for waste avoidance - and also made concrete decisions.

Sea festivals are becoming more sustainable - and the pleasures regional

"The communities stand behind the resolutions, now it's about the practical implementation," says Rie and emphasizes: "There will be prohibitions, but also commandments." Specifically, this means: At the lake festivals and at the anniversary event #wiessee100 it will be a first official plastic and disposable ban for all stand operators and showmen.

Waste separation is also mandatory.

A waste system is to replace the large rubbish bag in which all the residual rubbish ended up.

When selecting the products, the focus is on regionality.

After all, in addition to the retail trade, there are many direct producers and small businesses in the region, according to the TTT.

All suppliers of food and drinks should sell organic products wherever possible - from fair trade coffee to regional organic milk to natural cheese products.

In addition, it is encouraged

to put more vegetarian products on the menu.

For this purpose, the municipalities create boards with the sustainability logo that can be written on, on which regional offers can be presented.

They also undertake to use green electricity in the future.

Lake festivals are becoming more sustainable: Traveling by bike is encouraged

In addition to the topics of resources, waste and regionality, it is also about mobility and traffic.

In principle, the shuttle service with buses and ships is to be expanded in the future - free of charge and with attractive connections by bus and ship.

In addition, arrival by bicycle is to be promoted in all lake festival communities.

To this end, more bicycle parking spaces must be equipped, designated and partially guarded.

And the fireworks?

Are they still lit as usual at the sea festivals from the point of view of sustainability?

The city council in Tegernsee wanted to talk about this last night, today the topic is in the Rottacher Economic and Tourism Committee.

According to the TTT, a uniform decision is targeted.
