The World Health Organization announced that the number of new infections and deaths recorded for the Corona virus continued to decline globally during the past week, with the exception of Africa and the Americas.
And the Associated Press quoted the weekly report issued by the organization on the pandemic, as saying that about 3.8 million new infections and more than 15,000 deaths from the virus were recorded during the past week, a 17 percent decrease in infections and 3 percent in deaths.
However, the organization indicated that the number of cases increased by about a third in Africa and by 13 percent in the Americas, and also noted a jump of about 70 percent in deaths recorded in India, although it attributed this to the delay in reporting a new outbreak of the disease.
And the South African authorities announced last week that they had noticed an increase in the number of Covid cases, but indicated that it was too early to say whether this was the result of a new wave of the disease.
