Former Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, the current political head of the Five Star Movement, warned that supporting the Ukrainian regime militarily would be a "big mistake and Italy must correct it."

And the Italian “Aki” agency quoted Conte as saying: It would be madness to involve Italy and the whole world in the war in Ukraine, in reference to the declared Western military support for the Kyiv regime to confront Russia.

"We are not asking the prime minister to bring the list of weapons to parliament and approve it one by one...because it would be crazy to take part in the war in Ukraine," said Conte, who recently called on Prime Minister Mario Draghi to appear before parliament to clarify the goal of sending weapons to the authorities in Kyiv.

Earlier, Conte announced that the "Five Star" political movement was against sending offensive counter-military aid to Ukraine.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Italian Democratic Party, Enrico Letta, announced an initiative to end the Ukrainian crisis through a permanent peace agreement between Moscow and Kiev.

"Our proposal is that the heads of state and government of the five countries of Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Poland should side with the authorities in Kyiv to push for a lasting peace with Russia," Leta said in a statement today.

The Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, confirmed in an interview with Russia 24 channel recently that the West's sending of weapons to Ukraine does not contribute to finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis there.
