Rebellious and socialists announced this Wednesday morning an "agreement in principle" which has yet to be validated by the national council of the PS.

After the ecologists and the communists, a new force of the left is preparing to board the ship "Nupes" - New People's Ecological and Social Union.

After hours and hours of negotiations, the Socialist Party and La France insoumise expressed Wednesday, May 4 in the morning of an “

agreement in principle

”.

The latter would relate to 70 constituencies, that is to say thirty less than obtained by EELV.

A slight setback for the rose party, which symbolically hoped to have as much as its partner.

According to the leadership of the PS, a national council must now be convened “

as a matter of urgency as soon as possible

” to validate the outlines of this agreement.

Invited to France Info, the elected LFI Adrien Quatennens mentioned the "

some wording details

" which remain to be determined, but was delighted with this new progress.

"

It's a matter of hours, we can have a global, strategic, programmatic, historical agreement,

" he said.

“There is a clarification within the PS”

On several occasions, the deputy from the North recalled that it was not a “

simple electoral agreement

”.

"

We meet to apply a program, nothing else

", he underlined, while certain programmatic subjects - in particular on Europe - have long divided the two political parties.

There are undoubtedly disagreements within

the PS, also observed Adrien Quatennens,

but the people with whom we spoke do not want to remain bound hand and foot forever.

There is a clarification in progress within the PS, it is undoubtedly salutary.

»

From now on, Jean-Luc Mélenchon's right-hand man is delighted to "

show millions of people who thought we were going to be stuck with Emmanuel Macron's policy for five years

" that "

in five weeks, we can govern this country and implement a program that will change lives.

On the PS side, the "elephants" continue to make themselves heard in opposition to this agreement.

On Tuesday, former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve has already indicated that he would leave the party if the negotiations are successful.
