The operators of the branch on Lenggrieser Bahnhofstrasse will stop in the fall.

The Post is now looking for a partner.

Because: Lenggries needs a branch.

Lenggries –

Lenggries needs a new operator for a post office.

The post office is currently integrated into the “Team 3 Modellbau & More” shop on Bahnhofstrasse.

However, its operator stops.

As both the landlord of the house and the Deutsche Post confirm to the Tölzer Kurier, he terminated the respective contracts at the end of September.

Swiss Post now wants to start looking for a new partner.

The owner of the current shop was unable to personally contact the post office

The owner of the shop is currently hanging in the air.

He describes his situation to the Tölzer Kurier, but does not want to be named.

"In principle, I initially assumed that Swiss Post would want to continue to operate the branch at the current location in the future," he explains.

However, a personal contact with the group has not been successful in the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, the landlord wants to know where he is and whether he should offer the 200 square meter shop for rent elsewhere.

The rooms could be available again from around January or February 2023.

"Something like that needs lead time, I want to avoid a longer vacancy." If the post itself is not interested, there are certainly enough other interested parties, he says.

When the Tölzer Kurier asked Deutsche Post about this, it didn't sound like the group intended to step in as a new tenant.

The notice received from the owner of the model building business "means for us that we will now be looking for a partner again," says press spokesman Dieter Nawrath.

He makes it clear that the Post "clearly favors" accommodating its branch in another shop in Lenggries.

"And we are assuming that we will succeed," says Nawrath.

"There's still some time left until the end of September." In any case, the people of Lenggries don't need to worry: the post office wants and needs to have a location ready in Lenggries.

Post is looking for partners - does not want to open an independently operated branch

From Mayor Stefan Klaffenbacher's point of view, there is no question that Lenggries still needs a post office.

He has already contacted the responsible area manager at the post office.

They want to meet in the middle of the month.

Klaffenbacher's level of knowledge is also that Swiss Post wants to find a new partner company and only if this should not succeed, to open an independently operated branch.

Parking problems in front of the current branch

The landlord on Bahnhofstrasse is now divided as to whether he would still like a post office in his property.

On the one hand, the Post would definitely be a "great tenant", on the other hand there are also problems: "The traffic is extreme - and many park right in front of the shop on the sidewalk," he complains to homeowners.

"As soon as one drives away, the next one comes." Passers-by in wheelchairs or with prams would then have problems passing the point.

"I've already messed with a lot of people there." Regular parking lanes with sufficient space are available in the immediate vicinity.

"But a lot of people are too lazy to walk 20 or 30 meters."

The homeowner would therefore want three to four posts in front of the store, which make parking on the sidewalk impossible.

The mayor, in turn, is skeptical.

The posts could affect the winter service, says Klaffenbacher.

“And they would be a reference case for other deals.

If at some point the whole market street is criss-crossed with posts, that's not nice either."

“But the fluctuation there is very high.

You can only reach a fraction of the people with surveillance.” Apart from that, the central location is very favorable as a postal location.

The owner of the post office and the model shop could not be reached on the phone when asked about the subject.
