The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Moscow had banned Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Foreign Minister Yoshimasi Hayashi from entering Russian territory and imposed sanctions on 63 Japanese citizens.
"Moscow bans Kishida and Hayashi from entering Russia, and among those on the blacklist are the ministers of finance, defense and justice," the ministry said in a statement issued today, according to what was reported by Russia Today.
The statement added, "The Kishida administration launched an unprecedented campaign against Russia and directed unacceptable speeches and statements, including slander and direct threats, and this was echoed by public figures, experts and representatives of the media in Japan who fully share the West's attitudes toward our country."
The statement pointed out that in line with this course, Tokyo is taking practical steps aimed at dismantling good-neighborly relations and harming the Russian economy and the international standing of our country. Deciding on an indefinite ban on entry of Japanese nationals to Russia.”
Japan joined in with Western countries, especially Washington, by imposing a package of sanctions against Russia after the launch of the special military operation in Ukraine, including banning some Japanese exports to Russia and freezing the assets of a number of Russian banks, in addition to imposing personal sanctions against Russian leaders and businessmen there.
